The latest events have profoundly changed the lives of
the Lebanese people who in turn divided public squares, streets and dates among
themselves. In a phenomenon that was supposed to appear as democratic in any country
that respects freedom and glorifies egalitarian practices, the atmosphere is far
from that. Divisions that have emerged in
Lebanon
have thrown the country into a period of deep tension with a threat of crucial consequences
on the public level. This all, in return, is due to the impact of the political
speeches which have paved the way to mobilize sectarianism and fanatical instinct
.
Following this dark period, it became apparent that there
is an undeniable emerging presence of a widening gap in
Lebanon
between the two blocs of March 8th and March 14th. Realizing
the urgent need to bridge the ever increasing gap, a group of moderates developed
and proposed the establishment of a new bloc to represent the majority calling it
March 11th. The message is one of pride and hope in lasting values, human
will, and perhaps above all, the virtue of patience coupled with determination.
To teach people how to keep moving when the ground is shaking beneath our feet.
The main objective of March 11 bloc is not the elimination
or segregation of our fellow citizens but rather we strive at discovering the definite
existence of common points between them.
Our strategic planning initiative is leading us to consider
not only the current state of the intensified crisis in Lebanon, but also possible
paths of evolution for resolving the conflict between the two blocs 8th
and 14th of March, in order to maintain the main pillars and constituents
of the Lebanese society.
This bloc is called March 11th because it stands
on an equal distance from the two struggling blocs of March 8 and March 14.
The bloc of March 11 considers this press release as an
introduction for further practical moves that will be taken emerging from our moral,
national as well as religious obligation in the face of the loss that is afflicting
Lebanon.
The bitter taste of this feud forces us to assign a deadline
on the coming 11th of March, either to reach a solution and return to
the national negotiating table or we will be obliged to expand our peaceful movement
to achieve the desired goal (i.e. Stability, negotiation, fraternal language, rational
political speech and avoidance of provocation).
The bloc of March 11 offers a salvaging vision simultaneously
with a series of peaceful movements, in order to transcend religious sectarianism
and work towards a solid national unity to leave the new generations and our youth
with the legacy of a modern Lebanon that can live up to challenges and to live in
harmony, and we recall the saying: “what good does it make if an operation is crowned
by success, while the patient dies”?
Springing from what the historical and moral obligation
dictates on the bloc of March 11, there still exists a chance for salvation and
it is our duty to shed a light upon that opportunity.
